Can you please advise the steps to do the "calibration by line" only once for measurement (say vertical distance of 5 m) then for the same camera position when bringing in new video captures how you can then measure the distance, without having to recalibrate.

After you have done the calibration, do Save annotations. Then in the next video you can do Load annotations and it should reload the calibration. If you want to have this automatically loaded with every videos for a while, point to your saved KVA file in preferences > Playback > General > Default annotation file.
