I have been trying to upload video from my DV camera via Firewire, but the camera source is not being recognised, so unable to upload.  Please advise.

I have recently downloaded Kinovea and am keen to try it, having used other PA software in the past.

Please add more details.
What camera brand/model ? (maybe someone else has it and has found a solution).
What have you tried so far ?
What do you mean by "upload" in this context ? Live streaming from the camera to the PC or something else ?

The camera is a Sony DCR-TRV950E.  It's an old camera but a very good one for the work I am doing.  it has also been fine for uploading/importing video from camera to PC with other PA software eg Dartfish.

I filmed footage onto DV tape and want to be able to save the footage onto the PC as avi files so I can conduct analysis.

I connected the camera to my PC using Firewire, then clicked on "one capture screen" and then on "select source", but the camera is not being recognised.

Please can you let me know what I might be doing wrong and how I can resolve it.

I don't know what the cause could be, hopefully someone with a similar camera can help…
I only have a Sony DCR-HC47 (small Mini DV) that is working fine and with which I do most testing.

Try to get the logs and post them (an exerpt here or the full log in a bug report).
Look for a line like this:
541193 - DEBUG - [Main] - FrameGrabberAForge - Trying to connect to a Capture source.
And see if there are any ERROR lines around.

I have a Sony DCR-TRV33E.  I happened to shot some footage with it yesterday.  I just tried it then and have the following observations (note that I am using the expreimental version of Kinovea);

The camera is listed as a Microsoft DV camera.
On live capture it does not capture until I pause it, then unpause it.
On capture from tape, I have to press play on the camera.  Harley may be used to software that handles the camera's controls.

Works for me.
