We are trying to use the 'Image Capture' / 'Delay display' option on a pretty high spec. PC with > 60% free RAM (4GB) with a Panasonic NV-GS330 mini-DV camera connected using Firewire via an HDMI converter.  We select "Microsoft DV Camera and VCR" and then see only one resolution option (720 x 576), frame rate seems fixed at 25fps.

We are trying to use this to display time-delayed routines of competitive trampolinists, something we have seen done with Timewarp software using the same hardware combination.  Whilst it works the imagery doesn't seem clear enough at the extremities (e.g. arms moving fast through a somersault) although it was on the Timewarp we tried as a demo version.  The effect has just been described to me as 'ghosting'.

In response to a question posed by Joan "Is it related to comb artifacts from interlaced video?" - sorry, not that technical on this subject matter but having just done a quick google I think I understand your question but not how I would answer it.  smile

Hit the pause button (second from left) while moving hand rapidly in front of the camera.
Do you see the same issue on the freezed frame? Does it look like interlacing artifacts?
I can reproduce this with a DV camcorder. Not sure there is anything to do about it at capture time though… (check if the camera has a "progressive" mode).
