there are many situations when diferent playback speed are necessary to compare two motions, due to various conditions. such as different slow mo speed, or maybe different raquet swing speeds.

is it possible to have different playback speed rates for the two panes? and then engage the sync feature?

i had a similar situation (see thread - http://www.kinovea.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?id=507).  there area couple options.  one is that the 2nd video will open up at 100% regardless of the setting of the 1st video.  with enough trial and error opening and closing the 2nd video, you can tweak the speed of the 1st video until it's pretty close.  the second option i didn't have much luck with.  you can manually override the frame rate by clicking [motion] and then [high speed camera]...
