sorry. the cam CANT do live capture. that was mistaken. i am thinking about buying some basler cams (with gige vision) as i posted in an other thread.
unfortunately gige vision is not supported, but i will take a look at the basler pylon sdk. maybe there is a way to include that cams.

First of all congratulations for all your work, it is awsome.
About capture in highspeed using Casio Ex F1 you can get here all the information (it is not a mistake, sojahulk):

Basically it is a new firmware for the cam and a driver for the computer (it only works on windows xp).
It will be wonderful if we could use Ex F1 for live mode whith kinovea, but I guess it will be very difficult.

It's not clear whether it adds streaming or just controlling the hardware remotely. It sounds like changing shutter speed, adjusting lens, or triggering the capture (but capture itself would still happen on the device). Do you have streaming working in another application ?

I have not really streaming with another application, the main advantage I see is you do not need to touch the camera (for example if you have it placed somewhere hard to reach) and the time you win, because recording directly from your computer .

I have been looking for a website that lists high speed video cameras. This site is the best that I have found so far, helpful to find cameras. I am not sure if it lists from all available cameras or only those sponsored in some way by retailers or manufacturers. You can select frame rate, camera type, etc.

If your interest is in high speed video disregard the Snapsort ratings as they pertain to all camera operation modes including stills.
(Of course there are also many very high performance high speed video cameras including HD ones. These are much more expensive.)
The issue of MANUAL exposure control and AUTO exposure control has been discussed in this thread. MANUAL can produce the minimum motion blur that is desirable for sharp high speed videos of rackets, ball impacts, etc. I believe that only the discontinued Casio F1, FH20, FH25, and FH100 (2010) have been offered with full MANUAL. I don't believe that there are any affordable new HSV cameras now offered with full MANUAL control, all are AUTO. Still, a $120 camera with AUTO & 240fps could show you a great deal.

I appreciated the link above to remaining new stock of Casio Ex FH100 cameras. The listing says this is the Japanese version of the camera. Other than defaulting to Japanese in the menus, which could be changed to English, are there any other differences in the models that we should be aware of?
I am very seriously considering ordering one to supplement my stable of cameras used in bike fit video analysis.

On a golf forum that I visit -
1) One party in a reply was unhappy with an FH100 purchased some months ago for some issue.

2) Another party had gotten an FH100 set up for Japanese. He received instructions to reset it to English. There was some inaccuracy in the instructions but he soon had it working and was pleased.

Can I ask has anyone tried the canon firmware up date & can they clarify if it now gives the possibility of streaming direct to kinovea or is it just remote control of functions?
Also I note that, was it Joan, said it only works with xp when on the Canon web site it lists win 7 as well.

Which Canon camera model (s)? My T2i doesn't show a new firmware update. The only firmware listed is 1.0.9 dated 11/25/10 so I assume my camera already has it installed.
The T2i will output via HDMI so I suppose you could capture that in Kinovea with an HDMI capture card, but you can't stream HD video over USB 2.0. It mounts the SD card as a drive when you insert the USB cable.
One alternative I am considering is the Eye-Fi X2 Pro SDHC card. The X2 Pro version will push files over a Wi-Fi connection to your computer. It's not streaming hi-def, just copying files. As long as you don't try to push over 8 GB it should work. I am concerned about the potential for file transfer errors but I believe it doesn't delete files on the SD card until they are copied and verified.

Got it now. That is a Casio camera. I thought you were talking about something new WRT Canon cameras.
